SOIL MANAGEMENT IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT CONTEXT

Viorica Gavrila

Abstract

In the first part of the paper, an evaluation of the conceptual framework of the natural capital protection is made, namely the way in which the different EU policies contribute to soil protection. The current situation reveals an acceleration of the degradation process, this becoming an extremely urgent problem at cross-border level. In the last part, the specific problems that Romania is facing are investigated, namely the negative changes in the management of land resources, the deficient management having as consequence the non-correlation of sustainable development objectives with the capacity to sustain the natural capital.
