RESEARCH REGARDING THE TOURISM POTENTIAL OF HUNEDOARA COUNTY

Abstract


The present paper aims to analyze the tourism potential of Hunedoara County by monitoring the evolution of tourist accommodation facilities, the existing and operational lodging capacity, tourist arrivals and overnight stays, as well as their distribution according to origin categories. The research is based on data provided by the National Institute of Statistics, supplemented with information obtained directly from the field regarding the use of tourism resources and the perceptions of local stakeholders on tourism development. The results indicate a positive but uneven growth of the tourism infrastructure, a high dependence on resident tourists, and a short length of stay, all of which limit the sector’s profitability.
