WINTER SPORTS: TOURISM ATTRACTION AND DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE VALIUG-GARANA-SEMENIC AREA

Abstract


Sports tourism can be practiced in the area in various ways. Among them, agritainment and winter sports are favoured, and the latter ones are increasingly popular among people from all social categories. The study was carried out in the Semenic tourism area and it covered Semenic Resort, the Commune of Valiug (Crivaia Resort) and Garana. We used the bibliographic study, the interview and observation as research methods. As ski monitors of the SPORT4FUN-Semenic ski school, we observed the interest and flow of tourists in the areas where there is a ski infrastructure. Despite the fact that winter sports involve supplementary costs for equipment, there has been an increase of the number of winter sports amateurs lately.
