CHRISTMAS MARKETS IN TOURIST PACKAGES. CASE STUDY ON ROMANIAN AGENCIES' OFFER
Abstract
Started as medieval markets organized to secure winter supplies, Christmas markets have evolved into true spectacles that keep a warm feeling in people's souls and keep alive the essence of authentic Christmas. Currently, the Christmas markets are real poles of tourist attraction during the winter period, a fact that determined the appearance in the offers of travel agencies of thematic tourist products that also include visiting the fairs organized on the occasion of the Christian holiday dedicated to the birth of the baby Jesus. The article aims to analyze the offers of travel agencies in Romania through the lens of packages that include visiting the fairs organized on the occasion of Christmas. The study was carried out using observation as a research method, concretely the websites of 20 tourism agents were consulted. The selection of travel agencies to be included in the study was made on the basis of turnover recorded in 2023.
