STUDIES REGARDING THE EVOLUTION OF SHEEP AND GOAT HERDS FROM ROMANIA

Abstract

The flocks of sheep and goats had a downward trend during the years 2010-2020 and after this period of time the flocks began to grow as a result of the growing demand for processed products, obtained from these species of animals exploited in different farming systems production. Sheep and goat breeders fulfill three different roles that require specific knowledge and skills on production systems and that correspond to diverse activities such as production, marketing and financing, it is necessary for every professional holding to implement the best integronic management that includes production, production quality and environmental risk management.

The constant maintenance of herds and the increase of productions require from the breeders the implementation of managerial measures that perfect the production systems and maintain the biodiversity of the permanent mountain meadows, the preservation of a clean environment and the sustainable development of the communities in the farm area. Sheep and goat breeders fulfill three different roles that require specific knowledge and skills on production systems and that correspond to activities as diverse as production, marketing and financing, it is necessary for every professional holding to implement the best integronic management that includes production, production quality and environmental risk management.
