RESEARCH REGARDING LOANS GRANTED BY ROMANIAN BANKS TO HOUSEHOLDS IN THE CENTER REGION

Abstract

This article analyzes the data on lending by Romanian banks to the population of the Central Development Region. As a result of the measures to streamline the granting of loans, as well as the guarantees granted, through the decisions taken by the state and the banks, the lending activity for both the population and companies has been facilitated recently. From the analysis of the stability and liquidity indicators, we can appreciate that the banking system is able to support the alert and sustainable pace of lending in recent years. In our approach, we addressed the credit granted to the population by destination (consumption, housing and other purposes), in lei and foreign currency. Loans granted in lei have recently increased, especially since the banks have surplus resources as a result of the fact that the BNR fuels lending by reducing interest rates. Mortgage loans are on the rise, even if interest rates will drop in the next period.
