REVIEWS OF THE MEDICAL SERVICES OF MARTFŰ THERMAL SPA

Brigitta Méri, Karoly Bodnar

Abstract

Martfű Thermal Spa is located in the middle of Hungary in Jász-Nagykon-Szolnok County. Like many other settlements in the Great Plain, a spa was established on the medicinal water found there. We collected opinions about its medical services through an online questionnaire survey among the guests of the spa and interviews with the manager of the spa and its specialist doctor. 94.2% of the respondents visit the institution for rest and recreation. Guests prefer thermal pools, swimming pools, saunas, but the use of medical services (mud pack, underwater massage, therapeutic massage, etc.) is low. Only 4.3% of guests visit the spa on medical indication. Although the spa has its own website, it would still be necessary to promote the services more widely, which is unfortunately also true of other tourist destinations in Martfű.
