PRACTICING AGROTURISM BASED ON ETHNICAL PRINCIPLES IN THE WEST OF ROMANIA

Gheorghe Pribeanu

Abstract

The basic premise for a business named „agroturism†must start from the concept of “sustainable developmentâ€Â defined by the International Union for Conservation of Nature as “a process which takes place without producing, exhausting resources, ensuring developmentâ€. For the minimization of problems and maximization of advantages thought-out development strategies must be used; even so, turism alone, would not be able to solve rural problems.

Simultaneous with the obtaining of economic results, agroturism can contribute to the regeneration of rural zones, but if in the long term it will become a dominant activity the region may suffer. The purpose must be to help the balanced development of a region and not to transform it into a resort, serving only touristic purposes. Herein lay 2 directions:

- for sustainable touristic development at the local level with positive economical and social consequences;

- for the obtaining of profit and for the achievement of the so-called consumer fidelity through quality of the reception and of services.

Keywords

agroturism; ethnical principles; promoting agroturism; natural tourism potential; traditions
