RURAL TOURISM IN ROMANIA. CHARACTERISTICS AND MEASURES FOR FUTURE DEVELOPMENT

Abstract


The interest for rural areas has increased in recent years. The reason for the development of tourism in rural areas is awareness by small farmers, of need to diversify both within the agricultural farm activity and beyond. The statistics show that tourism in rural areas year by year has made more and more followers. The explanation for this development: it could be found in: the influence of environmental ideas, the desire to evade traditional tourist structures, the search for the best possible quality/ price ratio.

Many governments and the European Union recognize that rural tourism is a way that can save agriculture and cultural heritage, an activity rising, with positive impact on local devtelopment. Strating from this statement, in this paper we would like to highlith he attractiveness of rural tourism in the near future in our country.
