Abstract

The goal of this paper is to present world grape and wine production between 2000 and 2015 as partial results of the doctoral thesis “Research regarding the raise of rural area economy through grape and wine production”. This sector is an important branch of both world and national economy. Currently, the area cultivated with grapevine worldwide is over 7.5 million hectares, 300,000 hectares less than in 2000 mainly because of the decrease of grapevine cultivation in Europe. The paper relies on the analysis and interpretation of data from grape and wine literature.
