Abstract

Environmental protection is the cornerstone of sustainable development and must be consistent with the principles of sustainable agriculture practice. Rural development, in ecologically principles, must be consistent with economic and social development of rural areas and avoiding environmental degradation. Despite some improvements, the EU’s natural resources are under continuous decreasing. Ecosystems and their services, the so call backbone of biodiversity and human well-being, are increasingly threatened by land take for settlements and infrastructure as well as intensification of agricultural production. To achieve something, you must first be informed, to acquire knowledge that later we can apply successfully. This paper provides information on the number of participants in the agricultural and food sectors participating in training activities on the environment and the use of environmental consulting services in the rural development policy.
