Abstract

This study explores Romanian consumers' perceptions and tolerance towards food biotechnologies, focusing on in vitro cultures and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The research aims to assess public awareness, attitudes, and factors influencing the acceptance or rejection of these technologies. Using a mixed methods approach, we collected quantitative data through a questionnaire completed by Romanian respondents and qualitative perspectives through focus groups. This article highlights the critical role of transparent communication and education in shaping public opinion on food biotechnologies, ultimately aiming to support informed decision-making and policy development in Romania. The study contributes to a better understanding of the socio-cultural dimensions that influence biotechnology adoption in food systems.

Keywords
