RISK INDICATORS REPORTED BY PAYMENT INCIDENTS REGISTER

Daniela Harangus

Abstract

Banks collect information about the major payment incidents in the Payment Incidents Register (PIR), which comprises two files: Payment Incidents National File (PINF) and Risky Persons National File (RPNF). The paper presents the evolution of risk indicators in dynamics, during the years 2021-2022. The analyzed indicators refer to: number and amounts of rejected debit payment instruments, entities suspended from cheque-writing privileges and risky entities, both for residents and non-resident customers. The analysis of the evolution of these indicators shows the extent to which the banking regulations are implemented. The paper also presents the importance of risk indicators for banks when they decide to grant a loan or open a current account for a new client.
